An Offering of Love

“Divine love, flowing through me, blesses

and multiplies all that I give, all that

I receive, all that I have, and all that I am.”

Holding my love offering in the palm of my hands, I close my eyes and reflect on how far I have come from simply reciting to truly believing in the power of this prayer.  When exactly did my consciousness shift from “I don’t have enough” to God is my source and my supply? At what point did my envelope go from being empty to containing a check thoughtfully written out before service begins?    What  year  did  I stop turning in crumpled up bills, arbitrarily found in my coat pocket, and begin to behave more spiritually responsible with what I did have? I honestly cannot say.  But what I do know for sure is that a desire to give more and receive more, along with the practical application of Unity principles, are great catalysts for extraordinary change.

“…blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” (John 20:29 NIV)

What I have discovered from tithing, and in giving with an attitude of gratitude, is that you  actually  have  to  do  it  first  to  fully realize the multiple blessings that it brings. These blessings come not just in the form of money - but oftentimes, cleverly disguised as increased opportunities, perfect health, better relationships, peace, and an almost inexplicable sense of joy.

So what exactly does it take to move from fear to faith, from doubt to certainty, from lack to prosperity? Well, it takes prayer, Unity powers, and putting some basic principles into practice.

Order.     In  Prosperity,  Charles  Fillmore states that “Jesus recognized order as a fundamental factor in the law of increase.” A good place to start would be to get your affairs in order and know where you stand financially.  Affirm:  “The Spirit of honesty, promptness, efficiency, and order is now expressed in me and in all that I do.”*

Faith.  “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews  11:1)     Have  faith  in  God  to provide  as  you  give  generously  with  a loving heart.   Trust in divine order to see you through financial challenges knowing that all your needs will be satisfied.  Affirm: “I trust in God that I will have more than enough!”

Power.   “I have the power to create my world.” (Unity Affirmation) From this moment on, use the power of your mind to change your thoughts.  “If you have in your mind any thought that someone has wronged you, you cannot let in the cleansing power of Spirit and the richness of spiritual substance until you have cast out the thought of the wrong, have forgiven it fully.”*

Imagination. Envision yourself giving in time, talent, and treasure.   “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”—1 Peter 4:10

Our own prosperity starts really small, with something simple like serving - and with a love offering that is done in a grateful, orderly, faith-filled way.

Just imagine, if you will, changing your world, abundantly…one offering of love at a time.
